Community of Positive Psychology for English Language Teachers

Positive psychology is a field of study aiming to help individuals thrive and flourish in their lives and communities. It explores positive topics such as hope, well-being, optimism, creativity, happiness, flourishing, resilience, positive emotions, strengths, wisdom, and self-factors.
Acknowledging the importance of positive psychological dimensions of language teaching and learning, our community is committed to improving the quality of language teaching and learning experience.
We are a group of academics from foreign language teacher education field working at various universities in Turkey. We carry out activities to engage in professionals who have interest in positive psychology and its applications in language classrooms in Turkey.
Community of Positive Psychology for English Language Teachers (COPPELT) aims at helping Turkish ELT teachers to thrive in their profession. To this end, we carry out activities to promote cooperation between teachers and scholars to empower them use positive psychology applications in their classrooms.
What We Do
We raise awareness about positive psychology applications in language classrooms; empower teachers in using positive psychology through short-term training programs; organize local, national, and international events to promote scientific communication between teachers and scholars; cooperate with related organizations; foster and support Turkish teachers to lead their classroom-based research; provide a forum where both less-experienced and experienced ELT teachers can exchange views, experiences, and practices; strengthen and broaden the network of English Language Teachers and all other stakeholders involved in the ELT sector.
